- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Vaccine Program Office (NVPO) is seeking capability statements from organizations with the expertise for large scale manufacturing of influenza virus vaccines in the face of a potential, imminent, or ongoing pandemic. The current global influenza vaccine production is estimated to be 250-300 million doses of trivalent vaccine. During the 2002-2003 influenza season, 93+ million doses of inactivated trivalent influenza vaccine were available to the US market. Annual production is timed for delivery in late summer and early fall, before the expected influenza season in the northern hemisphere. This requires that an appropriate supply of embryonated eggs be available for this seasonal production cycle. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the required services are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 30 days from the date of this synopsis. Statements are due on June 23, 2003. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
