Description
This is a Sources Sought for small business contractors that would have an interest in participating in a Fleet and Industrial Supply Center procurement for overflow habitability work aboard US Naval vessels, if and when the requirement is so identified. Overflow habitability work is defined as habitability supplies and services in support of US Naval vessels within a 50 mile radius of NOB Norfolk and is further defined as work that can?t be accomplished via existing contract vehicles due to sheer volume or other reasons. Interested contractors will have a successful past performance record and be thoroughly familiar with the NAVSEA material, fabrication, and installation requirements for various furnishings and fixtures relative to shipboard habitability spaces (mess areas, wardrooms, berthing areas, offices, etc.) on US Naval Vessels. In addition, change orders are rarely, if ever, issued, thus making it even more imperative that contractors be thoroughly familiar with the work to be accomplished to preclude a flawed price proposal. The required work demands a high degree of quality as it relates directly to shipboard quality of life. Material requirements are driven by Mil-Std-1623, and fabrication and installation by the various NAVSEA directives such as the General Specification for Ships of the US Navy (GENSPEC) and the General Specification for Overhaul of Surface Ships (GSO). Interested small business contractors would already have, or be willing to establish, a manufacturing and assembly area for habitability furnishings and fixtures to be located within a 50 mile radius of Naval Base, Norfolk,Virginia. Companies would be capable of performing 51% or more of the required work. A habitability renovation aboard a US Naval vessel could consist of any combination of the following, including a myriad of other tasks not identified herein; Various bulkhead treatments (vinyl wall covering or High Pressure Plastic Laminate (HPPL)), deck replacement or repair, furniture fabrication (sofas, chairs, various cabinetry in the form of desks, bookcases, entertainment centers, mess deck tables, stainless steel beverage counters, salad and hot bars, etc.), carpet installation, and false overheads aboard a US Navy vessel. Interested contractors should reply to this sources sought via e-mail to the following; Mr. Scott Wilkins: scott.wilkins@navy.mil Telephone 757-444-2636 Ms. Emily Mclaughlin: Emily.mclaughlin@navy.mil Telephone 757-445-2684
