Description

The U. S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has a requirement for a Fiber coupled 2 micron laser. This is a replacement laser subsystem for the High Resolution Doppler Lidar (HRDL) and it is essential the laser fits into the existing lidar system. The required specifications of the laser are: 1) Wavelength tunable: 2020-2030 nm. 2) Continuous wave operation. 3) Single longitudinal mode operation. 4) Spatial mode TEMoo. 5) Output Power >50mw. 6) Power Stability <5% peak to peak variation in 1 minute. 7) Polarization: >98% linear. 8) Line width: less than 10 kilohertz per 100 microseconds. 9) Long-term frequency drift: <1 gigahertz per 24 hours. 10) 110 volts, 60 hertz power 11) Optically isolated fiber-coupled with single mode polarization maintaining fiber. 12) The laser head must fit into a volume no larger than 4" L x 3" W x 2" H. 13) Length of Optical fiber: 1m. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items (NTE 100K) as a combined notice/solicitation. No separate solicitation is available. This procurement is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside. The award decision will be based on technical merit, price and the required delivery date of August 1, 2003.
