Description
The VA North Texas Health Care System, Dallas, TX, intends to negotia= te and award a contract for Architect/Engineering services to Baird, Hampton & Brown (BHB), 309 West 7th Street, Suite 500, Fort Worth, TX in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation Subpart 6.302-1, as the only responsible source that can meet government needs. The subject project consists of 3 individual tasks=971) design & construction period services (CPS) for correction of boiler plant corrosion problems, 2) investigation and report of options for replacement of existing absorption chillers, and 3) design & CPS for installation/construction of steam and chilled water utility services to existing Ambulatory Care facility in support of future Mental Health addition. Sole source utilization of BHB for tasks 1 and 2 is required due to their past in-depth involvement with original design and installation of the these systems. Their previous and current knowledge with these particular systems will enhance their ability to trouble shoot the current problems, allow them to expedite analysis, and decrease costs for analysis and the design of corrective measures.=20 Sole source utilization of BHB for task 3 is required due to their current design relationship and knowledge with the Preliminary and Phase 1 designs for the Major Mental Health Project currently being funded through VA headquarters. This task interfaces with this project and requires knowledge of the project which BHB possesses, but which has not yet been documented and is not currently available to provide to others. Amount of award is expected to be greater than $25,000 but less than simplified acquisition threshold. Any comments shall be marked Attn: Joyce Cadwell (90C) at the above address, and are due by 4:30 p.m. local time, 7/24/03. This is not a request for proposals.
