Description

The Naval Air Systems Command intends to award a cost plus fixed-fee contract to Raytheon Missile Systems (RMS) for the development of an improved Active Optical Target Detector (AOTD) for the Sidewinder AIM-9X Missile Weapons System. This procurement would include the design, development, testing, qualification, modeling, documentation, and manufacturing of the AIM-9X replacement fuze. This requirement also includes the development and fabrication of test equipment. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority of Title 10, U.S.C., 2304(c)(1) as implemented by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1: ?only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.? RMS is the original manufacturer of the AIM-9X, and only known source possessing the requisite technical knowledge, specialized experience, capability, tooling and technical data to fulfill this requirement. RMS is located at P.O. Box 11337, Tucson, AZ 85734. While this notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, interested parties may identify their interest and technical capability to respond to this requirement and may submit information that shall be considered by the Naval Air Systems Command.
