- Description
- The Federal Highway Administration plans to award a purchase order with the Western Transportation Institute to develop Guidelines for Planning and Designing Functional Wildlife Crossing Structures as they relate to key regional wildlife communities, fragmentation-sensitive species, and transportation management concerns. The guidelines will develop protocols for passage monitoring programs, elaborate on specific crossing structure design issues, and identify priority areas for continued research. Western Transportation Institute is the only known source that has collected and assembled much of the information that will be required for this project. Furthermore, they developed the ARTEMIS database, which is the most complete reference resource focused on animal-vehicle collisions and mitigation options in North America. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or about August 27, 2003.
