- Description
- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) intends to award, on a Sole Source basis, a fixed price contract to the Peter Lamy Center for Drug Therapy and Aging, University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, 515 West Lombard Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201, to expand upon the initial one-year findings to consider patient-level, institutional-level, and medication-level factors behind these prescribing patterns. The analysis of anti-psychotic drug use will consist of four elements: (1) a 4-year, nationally-representative trend analysis of anti-psychotic use in nursing home and assisted-living populations, (2) descriptive tables describing which institutionalized beneficiaries tend to get anti-psychotics, including information on health status and their residential setting, (3) descriptive tables describing their psychoactive and overall medication use, including details on the types of anti-psychotics and other psychoactive medications, and (4) a manuscript describing the study approach, salient findings, and a literature review suitable for an audience of policy-makers. In addition, the project will evaluate the utilization of drug treatment by aged Medicare beneficiaries with Cardiovascular disease; the use of anticholinergic medications by nursing home residents, and the use of analgesics by nursing home residents in order to develop a profile of pain management in these residents. Solicitation CMS-03-004EW will be available in hard copy. The Government will not pay for any cost for contractors quote submitted in response to this solicitation. The Government will consider interest expressed within 15 calendar days of publication of this notice. Written requests should be submitted to Evelyn A. Ward, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Acquisition and Grants Group, 7500 Security Blvd., C2-21-15, Baltimore, Maryland 21244-1850. EWARD@CMS.HHS.GOV. (410) 786-5144.
