Description
NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) for partnering with educational eitities (High Schools) to participate in the 2003-2004 "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology" (FIRST) Robotics Regional and National Competitions. The FIRST Robotics Competition, designed for high school students, is a national engineering contest which teams high school students with engineers from Government and business in the design, construction, and testing of a champion robot. Information on the FIRST Robotics Competition may be found at http://www.usfirst.org . Proposals are sought from high schools that are within a 50-mile radius of the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), Huntsville, Alabama. Schools that have previously applied for NASA/MSFC support for any three consecutive years are ineligible for selection. Priority will be given to schools that have not previously applied. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See note 26. The anticipated release date of RFQ 4200025079 is on or about September 3, 2003, with an anticipated quote due date of on or about October 3, 2003 All qualified responsible educational institutions (High Schools) within a 50-mile radius of MSFC may submit a quote which shall be considered by the agency. Schools that have applied for NASA/MSFC support for any three consecutive years are ineligible for selection. Priority will be given to schools that have not previously applied. An ombudsman has been appointed - See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office 97 format and will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application. The Internet site, or URL, for the NASA/MSFC Business Opportunities home page is http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin=62 Prospective offerors shall notify this office of their intent to submit an offer. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor the Internet site for the release of the solicitation and amendments (if any). Potential quoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of the solicitation and amendments (if any). Any referenced notes may be viewed at the following URLs linked below.
