*****The solicitation is hereby amended to extend the due date for proposals, respond to technical questions submitted, and add a site visit to NIST.***** 1. The due date for proposals is hereby changed as follows: FROM: Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time TO: Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. 4. Responses are hereby provided to the following technical questions: QUESTION: There is no data information on the paper machine to run calculations. RESPONSE: The data information is as follows: **Paper Grades: writing, document and currency.** **Basis weights: normal range is from 15 to 30 pounds on a 17x22-500 basis.** **Speed: 30 to 40 feet per minute.** **Production: Average is 80 pounds of product per hour.** **Trim: 25 inches at the dry end.** **Moistures: Feed into the main dryer is normally 65 percent; feed leaving the main dryer ranges from 3 to 10 percent; feed into the after dryers ranges from 10 to 20 percent and feed leaving the after dryers ranges from 3 to 5 percent.** **Dryer diameter: 24 inches.** **Dry Coding: Coding was by Underwriters Laboratory in 1975, Nat'l Bd. 1598-1607; rating is for a maximum pressure of 50 psig and maximum temperature of 450 degrees Fahrenheit.** **Steam pressure available: 50 psig saturated.** QUESTION: There is no drawing or schematic of the system. RESPONSE: No drawing or schematic shall be provided. QUESTION: Will there be a scheduled site visit? RESPONSE: A site visit to NIST is hereby scheduled for Friday, August 29, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. The procedures for visitor registration and further technical questions are as follows: A SITE VISIT shall take place on Friday, August 29, 2003 at 10:00am Eastern Standard Time. Attendees shall convene at NIST, Building 231, Room A108, 100 Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg, Maryland. The site visit shall allow offerors to view the mill and paper machine. Potential offerors are strongly encouraged to attend site visit. In no event shall failure to inspect the paper machine constitute grounds for a claim after contract award. SITE VISIT REQUIREMENTS: To better facilitate the site visit, it is requested that all technical questions be submitted in writing to Erin Hawley, Contract Specialist, via e-mail or fax no later than 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time on August 28, 2003. If required, an amendment including questions and answers shall be posted at www.fedbizopps.gov. Offerors are advised that the terms and conditions of the RFQ remain the same unless changed by amendment. SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: Because of heightened security, Offerors who are planning to attend the site visit shall e-mail their intention to attend to Erin Hawley, at Erin.Hawley@NIST.Gov, not later than 3:00pm on August 27, 2003, with the following information: 1) Company name 2) Names of all individuals attending the site visit 3) Country of Citizenship of all individuals attending the site visit* *For non-US Citizens, the following additional information will be required: 1) Title 2) Employer/Sponsor 3) Address Failure to register will result in individuals being denied access to NIST, and subsequently, the site visit. It is the sole responsibility of each offeror to register for the site visit. Offerors must pick up a Visitor's Badge at the Visitor's Registration Center located at the Main Gate (Gate A, off Bureau Drive) Please ensure all individuals bring photo identification or they will be denied access to the facility.
