Description
The following questions and answers are in response to solicitation N00189-03-R-0571: 1. In order to quote on the installation, we'll need to look at the site, or exam a set of drawings that depict the installation area. How do I go about arranging one or both of these? Email Carolyn.Johnson@navy.mil to obtain a copy of the drawing. 2. Are standard stairs required door only a ladder? How many? Standard stairs-36", external per attached sketch. 3. Standard stairs are required, are they internal or external? Would they be perpendicular or parallel to the perimeter and how wide (24", 30", 36", etc.)? See answer to question #2 4. If only a ladder is required, how wide and is safety guarding required (caging around ladder)? See answer to question #2 5. If the deck thickness can be made thinner than that in the description (10'7" - 9'0" = 19" thick), what dimension should be held, deck elevation of 10'7" or clearance of 9'0"? Clearance 6. Is there any interest in an optional lighting package for this system? No 7. Clarification of system dimensions? Per attached sketch (email Carolyn.Johnson@navy.mil for sketch) 8. Free span, free span, just the 20"2 dim or does the customer have free span requirements for the length dimension as well? The only free span dimension requirement is for 16 ft. between posts to enable storage or trailers under mezzanine. Attached sketch depicts best solution to maximize storage capacity under mezzanine. 9. There is no mention of OSHA stairs for this mezzanine. Do to the size I am sure OSHA would require a min of 2 each stairs confirm # of stairs and or landings and placement. Not familiar with OSHA requirements. Require at least one stair as described above. 10. Hand railing around the full perimeter? Or are we butting the mezzanine against walls? Handrail around full perimeter..steam pipes prevent butting against walls. Need three 72" lift out gates for forklift loading to mezzanine level. 11. Finished deck material diamond plate? Or steel plate? There is difference in pricing. Diamond plate not preferred due to requirement for pallet jack operations. Open to any other type of material that will withstand traffic/material handling. 12. Will customer unload materials and stage? Will there be a forklift available to aid in installation? Should we include in bid package pricing for forklift rental? Delivery location is location of installation. Forklift and operator available for offload/staging. 13. Need more specifics on what kind of electrical power customer wants? No electrical power required. 14. Can installation be done during normal business hours with a minimum of 8 hours of access per day? Yes 15. Could you provide a drawing of the above-mentioned mezzanine? The "L" shape is not clear.
