- NA The US Army Research Development Engineering Command, Natick Soldier Center (RDECOM-NSC) in Natick, MA, is conducting a market survey for technical information on methods to achieve a cost-effective medium airdrop capability with precise landing accuracy. The desired characteristics for such a system are as follows: (1) 26,000 - 30,000 pounds of payload capacity, (2) deployable from C-130 and/or C-17 aircraft, traveling at speeds ranging from 130-150 knots indicated airspeed (KIAS), (3) capable of operating at altitudes up to 25,000 feet mean sea level (MSL) (Threshold) and up to 35,000ft MSL (Objective), (4) landing accuracy of 100 meters (Objective) to 300 meters (Threshold) circular error probable (CEP) 95% of the time, (5) capable of offset distanced of up to 30KM (in a 'zero' wind environment) (6) system reliability of 95% at 90% confidence (threshold) and, (7) at a projected cost (after full development and testing and in quantities of 100) of $2-5/lb delivered in quantities. The science and technology effort in the area of applied research and experimental development being considered is on the order of $4.0M-$5.0M per year for five years. Proprietary information will not be disclosed outside the U.S. Government. All intereste d firms, regardless of size are encouraged to respond to this request for information. It should be noted that this is a market survey and not a pre-solicitation notice. A pre-solicitation notice will be published if a formal solicitation is generated. No awards will result from this market survey. Nothing shall be construed herein or through the market survey process to commit or obligate the Government to further action as a result of this market survey. Firms responding to this market survey shall bea r all risk and expense of any resources used to provide the requested information, and all information submitted in response to this request shall become the property of the Government and will not be returned to the submitter. Respondents must submit th eir product brochures, technical data, or other information concerning performance and cost within 30 days of this publication.
