- The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to issue a modification to contract N00024-02-C-5415 with Raytheon Company, P.O. Box 11337, Tucson, AZ 85734-1337 for overhaul and lifecycle maintenance of approximately 65 Phalanx MK-15 Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS). Raytheon is the only qualified domestic producer of the MK-15 CIWS which is of such a highly complex nature that substantial investment in both time and money to qualify additional sources would be required. The significant duplication in costs and time is not expected to be recovered through competition. See Note 22.
