- RFQ USSS-03Q0051 is hereby amended. Amendment 0003 to RFQ USSS-03Q0051 HQ C level Cable Plant Install. Quotes shall include acknowledgement of amendments. Question-1: (Q1) The solicitation description states, All cable will be terminated in rack mounted fiber distribution panels, and use ST connectors for all terminations. Do you mean instead SC connectors? Answer-1: (A1) Yes, typo. Correct to read SC. Q2: On new server area one 6/12 CAT5e is this 12 ports patch panels or 48 ports patch panels required or placed on the floor without patch panels? A2: Solicitation states, Provide, install and terminate Quantity (6)-12 Cat5e cable runs from new under floor Server Farm Area 1 location terminating on 12 port patch panels. Q3: 4/12 CAT5e cables is this 24 port patch panels or 48 port patch panels required? A3: Solicitation states under Option Item 0003, Provide, install and terminate Quantity (4) ? 12 Cat5E cable runs from new 24 Port patch panels in racks to CER111. Q4: Is the fiber Patch panel GFE? A4: No. Solicitation states under Option Item 0003, For the contractor to provide quantity (1) ? 24 strand MM w/SC heads from new rack patch panel to existing fiber patch panel in CER111? Q5: Please define in detail what you mean by cable fails during this 15-year period? A5: Contractor shall provide complete written 15 year warranty of all parts and labor, and shall replace parts and equipment and perform rework to remedy any failures. Q6: The solicitation description states The Contractor will use booted patch cables and will follow the color standards set forth below. PC?s: Blue patch cables; Printers: Red patch cables; Servers: Yellow patch cables; and Fax machines: Green patch cables. However, the requirement is only for blue Cat5e cable runs, orange fiber runs, racks and rack managers? A6: Correct NO PATCH CABLES REQUIRED. The solicitation states Item 0001 is for the installation of a total of 200 Cat5e cables in the Cable Area 1 New Server Farm Area, and Option Item 0002 is for 192 additional Cat5e cables, and Option Item 0003 is for 48 Cat5e cables, and 24 strands of multi mode fiber, 4 Open frame racks with overhead ladder rack to wall, and 5 Vertical cable managers. Q7: The solicitation description states, The Contractor shall be responsible for grounding each rack to a building ground. Is this correct? A7: Yes, ground each rack. Q8: The solicitation description provides extensive guidance for labeling many cable types, please clarify. A8: Contractor shall label each end of each of the 128 Cat5e cables with machine generated labels. The specific sequential designation shall be coordinated with the Government representative on-site. Q9: Will patch cable require dressing? A9: NO PATCH CABLES ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT. SEE ANSWER 6 ABOVE. Q10: Will the contractor provides the 14 ft. booted patch cables? A10: NO PATCH CABLES ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT. SEE ANSWER 6 ABOVE. Q11: If so what quantity per color? A11: NO PATCH CABLES ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT. SEE ANSWER 6 ABOVE. Q12: Will cut floor tiles be provided? Or will the contractor be required to cut the tiles? A12: Cut floor tiles will be provided by the Government. Q13: Regarding Option Item 0003, Ladder Rack: The Contractor shall install ladder rack to interconnect the relay rack(s), and to connect the relay rack to the wall for easy extension of cables and circuits. Will plywood for wall reinforcement in the LAN test room be provided? Or will the contractor be required to provide or install plywood? A13: Plywood will be provided and installed by the Government. Q14: Regarding the Homaco 48 port MJPC5-35TB patch panels, first, is Homaco brand required? A14: The Secret Service recommends the use of Homaco MJPC5-35TB (PREFERRED BRAND) or equivalent. Patch panel other than Homaco must be approved in advance by the Government. Q15: Should the contractor completely fill the 48 ports on each panel before moving or starting the next panel? A15: Yes. Q16: How far from the wall should the racks be located in the LAN test room (Option Item 0003) A16: The Contractor will install all racks with a minimum of 3-foot clearance (i.e. between the wall and racks) for the front and back of each relay rack. Q17: Will any runs require ceiling access? A17: No. All runs will be under floor. Q18: How many cables should be run in the carlon tubing? A18: The Solicitation states, All cables will be run in new inner-duct, with 12 cables per duct. Q19: What size racks are required under Option Item 0003? A19: Standard 19 inch rack, the Solicitation states at Racks: Aluminum relay racks must be installed to the following specifications. The Secret Service recommends the use of Homaco 19-84-T2SD*B (PREFERRED BRAND). Q20: Under Items 0001 and 0002, in both the Dell New Server Farm Area 1 cabinets, and the new under-floor server farm area 1 (space awaiting future cabinets), and Cable Area 2 (Old Server Farm Area), is the contractor required to provide a coiled service loop of 20 feet of cable attached to patch panels? Likewise is the contractor required to provide a 7 foot service loop on the other ends in the Communication Equipment Room (CER 111)? A20: Yes, Contractor shall provide a 20 foot service loop on one end and a 7 foot service loop on the other end. Q21: Type of Cat5e cable? Is there a specific MHz requirement? A21: Solicitation states, ?use 24 AWG, 4 pair Category 5e (CAT5e) plenum rated cable that is blue in color. All CAT5e cabling installed for this contract must achieve 10 dB ACR at 100 MHz. All CAT5e cabling installed under this contract shall conform to EIA/TIA TSB67 cable testing criteria. Q22: Under Option Item 0003, should the racks be attached to slab? A22: Yes, attach racks to the slab. The solicitation also states, each rack will be secured to the floor and to the ceiling to ensure stability. The floor mounting of the racks shall utilize a minimum of ? all thread. Q23: What size ladder racks are required under Option Item 0003? A23: Use a 12 inch wide Homaco TR10-12 runway with Homaco JP0912B Rack-to-Runway Junction, and Homaco P128240HB Wall Mount (Preferred Brand) or equivalent ladder rack that complements the Homaco 19-84-T2SD*B (Preferred Brand) 19 inch wide Aluminum relay rack or equivalent, and shall be cut to length on-site to connect racks positioned approximately three feet from the wall. Q24: What color rack is required? A24: Black. Q25: Will the racks be on the tile/carpet? A25: The racks will be placed on the carpet tile, and secured through into the slab. Q26: What are the overall dimensions of the LAN area? A26: The overall c-level LAN area is approximately 88 feet long and 54 feet wide. Q27: What are the standard work hours? A27: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Q28: Will there be another walk-through? Or plans available? A28: NO. Q29: Will the quote due-date be extended? A29: The quote due date is hereby extended to 4:00 PM (EDST) Tuesday September 9, 2003.
