Description
The U. S. Department of Education (ED), Office of Indian Education (OIE) intends to award a sole source purchase order to the National Indian Education Association (NIEA), 700 N. Fairfax Street, Suite 210, Alexandria, VA 22314. NIEA holds an annual conference attended by American Indian and Alaska Native tribal representatives, educators, parents and students. The conference is attended by the largest single gathering of such participants, a majority of whom are grantees of the Office of Indian Education. Approximately 3,000 participants are expected to attend the 2003 conference. The Office of Indian Education is planning to conduct a total of eight (8) technical assistance workshops at the National Indian Education Association (NIEA) annual convention to be held in Greensboro, NC, from November 1 ? 5, 2003. NIEA also intends to provide time on the general assembly agenda for a presentation by the OIE Director. The National Indian Education Association's annual convention is the only national conference targeted to Indian education programs and issues. In preparation for the meeting, the Office of Indian Education works collaboratively with other Education Department offices and other Federal Indian Education programs to address current educational issues of local school districts and their impact on the education of Indian students. The attendance of OIE staff and workshop presentations are highly anticipated by participants as this is often their only opportunity during the year to directly interact with OIE staff. Participation in the conference also allows OIE an opportunity to provide technical assistance individually to grantees and disseminate information to OIE customers. The services to be provided to ED/OIE by the NIEA include: 1) Meeting space at the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center, Greensboro, North Carolina for eight workshops during the week of November 1-5, 2003; 2) Convention registration for up to nine representatives of the OIE staff; 3) Two prime exhibit booths at the convention site during the conference dates; 4) Meeting space for individual technical assistance sessions by OIE staff for grantees; 5) A full page display ad for advertising the Office of Indian Education and No Child Left Behind. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which, if timely received, shall be considered by the agency. Contact: Jeffrey Johnson, (202) 205-9923, Jeff.Johnson@ed.gov , U. S.
