- The purpose of this modification is to provide answers to the following questions we have received: Question 1: Are you entertaining an "externally hosted or commercially hosted project management solution?" Answer 1: As referenced in the solicitation notice, "I) Product will be hosted at the Government Data Center - 1. Server Specifications: Compaq DL380; Dual 866 CPU's; three 18 Gig H/D ; 1 Gig RAM; Win 2000; 2. Dial-in and VPN support available for software install". Federal Student Aid will host the server. Question 2: What do you mean by 508 compliant? Answer 2: Effective June 25, 2001, the Federal government implemented Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Amendments of 1998 (29 U.S.C. ? 794(d)). Section 508 requires that the federal government only acquire electronic and information technology goods and services that provide for access by persons with disabilities. For more information, see www.section508.gov. Question 3: Do you need a GSA contract? Answer 3: We did not solicit through the GSA schedules and are not seeking a GSA contract. Question 4: Is there any information that I may need to craft the proper response other than the initial solicitation? Answer 4: The solicitation notice contains the information needed for the submission. Question 5: Is there an incumbent for this project: Answer 5: No, we do not currently have an incumbent for this specific need as stated in the solicitation notice. Question 6: Have you "filled" the solicitation notice: Answer 6: No, the solicitatiion notice was posted on Monday, September 8 and closes Friday, September 12 at 3:00 pm EST. Question 7: I am writing to understand how product demos are incorporated into the evaluation process for the Workspace Collaboration/PM Tool RFP. Please advise on whether there will be an opportunity to present our product either prior to, or after, the the quotations are presented, and also whether you have already had any vendor presentations. Answer 7: The government does not intend to entertain product demonstrations before receipt of quotations but may ask for demonstrations or conduct testing, including 508 compliance testing, after receipt of quotations. On the other hand the government may award without demonstrations or testing. ED will accept clarification questions until 4:00 PM EDT on Thursday September 11, 2003. After this date, ED does not guarantee that a response will be given.
