- Description
- THE QUESTIONS RECEIVED FOR DEA-03-AA-0034(mjs) AND THEIR ANSWERS APPEAR BELOW: 1. Has the government procured (or planning to procure under a separate process) the CISCO CATALYST SWITCHES outside the scope of this specific synopsis? No - the procurement of the switches is part of this contract. 2. Has the government procured (or planning to procure under a separate process) the major cabling equipment (equipment racks, patch panels, patch cables, etc.) outside the scope of this specific synopsis? No - the procurement of the any and all material necessary to complete the project is part of this process. 3. Has a network design, complete with configurations, already been approved? (Agency-wide standards?) No 4. Has it been determined what size CISCO switches are required based on current versus future usage? This information is detailed in the synopsis by the number of ports active and required on the patch panel. I left it up to the contractor to determine the number of switches they need to provide to satisfy the port requirement. For example, if I needed 96 active ports, the contractor can suggest 2 - 48 port switches or 4 - 24 port switches. Contractor A may be able to get the 24 port switches at a lower cost than the 48 port switch that contractor B yet satisfy the same requirement. 5. Is there fiber connecting the closets? Yes ? this information is also detailed in the synopsis by how the closets are connected. 6. Do they need/want routing capabilities? No. 7. It seems that both networks (referred to as networks 1 and 2) exist in both Closet 1 and Closet 2. They claim they have 168 ports terminated in Closet 1, With Network 1 using 83 ports, and Network 2 using 48 ports. This only adds up to 131 ports. Does this mean they are using 131 ports in the switches, but have 168 terminated in the patch panel? Yes 7. Do they want Network 1 and 2 to be in separate chassis, or can we break up the two networks with VLANS? The two networks are separate?..no VLANs.
