Description
This is a modification to a previous synopsis posted on 21 August 2003. The Naval Air Systems Command intends to award a Letter Contract (basic and two (2) options) to BAE SYSTEMS Avionics Limited of Rochester, England, to procure EA-6B modified ASW-59 Digital Flight Control Systems (DFCS). The DFCS consist of a Digital Flight Control Computer (DFCC) and a Digital Flight Control Panel (DFCP). The following will be procured: Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) to design and modify the ASW-59 to the ASW-59A; four (4) DFCC prototype Laboratory Test Articles; three (3) DFCP prototype Laboratory Test Articles, and three (3) Engineering Test Stations. Deliveries of the Test Articles and Engineering Test Stations will occur not later than April 2004. The first option, which will be exercised in FY04, will consist of NRE associated with the procurement of two (2) DFCS prototype flight test units and engineering support. Deliveries will occur not later than October 2004. The second option, which will be exercised in FY05, will consist of NRE associated with the procurement of four (4) DFCS production test units with production qualified software build for flight test. Deliveries under the second option will occur not later than July 2005. BAE has previously developed a similar item for the F-14 Program. BAE is the sole designer, developer and manufacturer of the ASW-59 DFCS installed in F-14 aircraft and is uniquely qualified to produce the modified DFCS for installation in all EA-6B aircraft. BAE is the only known qualified source to support the Navy?s requirement and meet the EA-6B program schedule and technical requirements. See Note 22. Synopsis No. 20089-03.
