- Description
- NASA's GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ)5-22138-GWS for new interface boards and differential cable assemblies. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA's GSFC intends to purchase Configurable Direct Memory Access (DMA) Interface w/RS422PCI CD-20 and Differential Cable with High-Density Four Channel 80-PIN Connector to Four DB25 Connectors for RS-422 from Engineering Design Team, Inc. (EDT) at 1100 NW Compton Dr., Suite 306, Beaverton, OR 97006 only. Specifically, these items are for the existing Geostationary Operational Environmental Satelitte (GOES) Multi-use Data Link (MDL) Receive System and Server (MRS&S)located at the GOES Satellite Operations Control Center (SOCC) in Suitland, Maryland. This system is vital in the day-to-day forecasting of the nation's severe weather. It is imperative that this system be operational 24x7 days a week. The MRS&S was originally built using the EDT configurable DMA Interface boards. In addition, EDT provided the existing cards, the firmware and software codes, written to EDT specifications. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on October 10, 2003. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
