Description
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is seeking information on the availability of commercial research tools via the Internet or a market research service. These research tools or services are necessary to provide logistics/parts information to logisticians, parts researchers, repair technicians, engineers and catalogers involved in logistics planning for repair activities of commercial/ industrial/ military electronic assemblies. Information is requested on the availability of commercial research tools or services that contain FAA???s required and desired features as follows: Required features: Research tool or service capable of performing Combination Searches/Wild Card Searches to measure number of sources and/or quantities available of discontinued, obsolete, hard to find semiconductor integrated circuits, transistors, diodes and miscellaneous semiconductor devices. Desired features: Ideally the tool or service would be able to load databases or batches of part numbers and research internet sources to evaluate the markets ability to supply those parts. Also desired is the ability to predict how long each part searched would be available through commercial supply sources. A third desired feature is the suggestion of alternate or substitute parts with associated availability data. Interested firms with research tools or services having the capability of meeting the FAA???s requirements are requested to submit information on its tool(s). Submissions are to be in the form of a list identifying FAA???s required and desired features and whether the research tools or service does or does not contain the corresponding referenced feature. Documentation should be sent via email to the contracting officer or sent to the following address: FAA Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center Attn: AMQ-210/Joy Dickson P.O. Box 25082 Oklahoma City, OK 73125 Responses should be received no later than November 18, 2003. Individual company responses will not be disclosed to other vendors. This announcement is for information only and shall not be construed as a request for proposal or as an obligation on the part of the FAA to acquire these services. However, the submission of documentation indicating the existence of research tools capable of satisfying the Government???s ???required??? features may result in the issuance of a Request for Quotation (RFQ). Responders to this announcement may be asked to provide additional details/information based on their initial submittal.
