Description

The United States Coast Guard, Project Resident Office, New Orleans, LA intends to have Stewart & Stevenson, on a sole source basis, provide two Detroit Diesel Engine and electronic control management system simulators and associated training to Coast Guard personnel located at the National Motor Lifeboat School and the Reserve Training Center Yorktown. The simulators include components identical to those installed aboard all 47? Motor Life Boats (47? MLB), which allows the students to experience and create real time simulations of what to expect during actual operational evolutions. The simulator is comprised of throttle controls, sensors, alarms gauges, engine control modules, interface modules, and wiring harnesses. Stewart & Stevenson designed, developed and manufactured the simulators specifically for the 47? MLB; and is the only known company that is intimately familiar with all of the boat?s engine systems, especially the electronic control system and the test simulator they created and manufactured. Federal Acquisition Regulation FAR 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures and FAR Part 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items will be utilized for this acquisition. The NAICS Code is 334515. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
