Description

The Coast Guard intends to procure on a sole source basis NLETS User Fees and Line Charges for the period 1 October 2003 through 30 September 2003. The National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS) is a sophisticated computer-controlled message switching network linking local, state, and federal agencies together for the purpose of information exchange. It is the only national system which provides state and local law enforcement with the capability to exchange free-form criminal justice related information interstate. The system is operated and controlled by the states. Every stat is a member. NLETS provides the U.S. Coast Guard law enforcement units with centralized access to Federal, State, and Local law enforcement databases. The service is part of an existing U.s. coast Guard MISLE system. NLETS is currently the only approved network of its kind to provide information from the states. The alternative would be to set-up communications and database protocols with every federal, state, and local law enforcement agency. Other firms who can furnish these user fees and line charges are invited to submit clear and convincing data substantiating their capability to furnsih the entire requirement. Vendors failing to provide complete information for an accurate comparison will not be considered.
