Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for the verification and validation of documents for the NIST Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) computational fire model. The purpose of this task is to document past work conducted by NIST and others to verify and validate the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) computational fire model. The documentation should follow the outline of ASTM 1355, ?Evaluating the Predictive Capability of Deterministic Fire Models.? The first step in the ASTM 1355 process is to define the scenarios for which the verification and validation is to be conducted. These scenarios should be those for which the code was developed for use in the built environment, and should not include any scenarios specific to nuclear power plants. The documentation should only include validation (comparison of FDS results with test data) that have already been conducted and published by NIST and others. Details of this requirement will be provided in the solicitation. The period of performance for this requirement will be two (2) months from the date of award. Award of a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) commercial Purchase Order is anticipated. It is anticipated that a single solicitation will be issued on or about November 26, 2003 at www.fedbizopps.gov. The solicitation, all amendments and any questions and answers to the solicitation will be posted to FEDBIZOPPS and are totally the responsibility of the Offeror. No mailing lists will be kept and no hard copy of the RFQ will be available.
