Description
THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS OR A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS; IT IS STRICTLY A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI). NEITHER UNSOLICITED PROPOSALS NOR ANY OTHER KINDS OF OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED IN RESPONSE TO THIS RFI OR RESULTING FROM THIS RFI. The U. S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD is currently performing market research to determine what calendaring software products currently exist in the marketplace from various vendors that could provide enterprise-wide electronic calendaring capability for approximately 3,000 users in two different physical locations. Manufacturers of such products are requested to respond in writing to this RFI by email to Joseph.Widdup@nist.gov NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 15, 2003 and provide written responses to the following questions: (1) Please provide commercial literature that describes, in the most detail possible: (a) the name of the software product, its version number and, if applicable, its release number; (b) the name of the company that owns the copyright to the software product; (c) highly detailed description of the technical capabilities of the software; (d) indication of which types of network environments in which it may be deployed; (e) indication of whether the software product it is web accessible; (f) indication of whether the software products is wireless accessible; (g) detailed description of security features built into the software product; (h) indication whether the software product may be administered remotely; (i) indication of whether off-line operation of the client is possible; (j) indication of whether synchronization of databases is possible when a connection to the server is established; (k) indication of whether synchronization of account data between a server and a palmtop client is possible; and (l) any other relevant technical information; (2) Please indicate whether the calendaring software may be purchased as a stand-alone software product or whether it must be purchased as a ?bundle? that includes other software products for which licenses must also be purchased (if other software products are bundled with it, then also provide the information requested in (1) above about those other products, as well); (3) For the aforementioned software product(s) (calendaring and, if applicable, other products with which it is only sold as a bundle), please indicate whether they may be configured to work with Qualcomm Eudora email software, which is NIST?s current email software; (4) FOR EACH OF THE AFORMENTIONED SOFTWARE PRODUCT(S) (calendaring and, if applicable, other products with which it is only sold as a bundle), PLEASE COMPLETE A SECTION 508 VOLUNTARY PRODUCT ACCESSIBILITY TEMPLATE, WHICH IS ACCESSIBLE AT http://www.itic.org/policy/vpat.html, AND SUBMIT IT WITH THE RESPONSE TO THIS RFI (background information for Section 508 is accessible at www.section508.gov); (5) Please indicate whether the product(s) may be operated on two different campuses that are approximately 2,000 miles apart (Gaithersburg, MD and Boulder, CO); (6) Please indicate the minimum number of users and the maximum number of users for each product for which information is being provided; (7) Please provide commercial list price information (NOT SPECIFIC PROPOSAL PRICING) for each product for which information is being provided, to include, as applicable, commercial list pricing based on number of users, commercial list pricing based on what platform on which it is deployed; and commercial list pricing based on any other factors; (8) Please indicate whether the calendaring software (and, if applicable, its other bundled product(s)) for which information is provided are currently available for ordering through any GSA Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) Contracts and/or any Government-Wide Acquisition Contracts (GWACS) and, if so, the contract numbers and for those contracts. PLEASE PROVIDE RESPONSES TO (1) THROUGH (8) ABOVE IN .PDF FORMAT BY EMAIL ONLY TO JOSEPH.WIDDUP@NIST.GOV SO THAT IT IS RECEIVED AT THAT EMAIL ADDRESS NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 15, 2003.
