DRAFT Statement of Work for Fabrication of the Instrumented Inducer Assembly Introduction This Statement of Work summarizes the requirements for installation and verification of Kulite pressure transducers on to a scaled RS84 main liquid oxygen pump inducer. The Contractor shall provide the services outlined below. Objectives (1) Strain Gage Inspection - The Contractor shall perform electrical verifications of the installed strain gage bridges in order to detect any handling or shipping damage to these devices. The Contractor shall compare sensed circuit resistances against those in the Strain Gage Electrical Verification Report and immediately report any discrepancies. Recorded resistances shall be documented (Deliverable A). See Table 1 for recommended format. (2) Transducer Installation - The Contractor shall install transducer LL-3-125-150A at each of the locations specified in drawing MED00516. Specific transducer requirements: 150 psia Full Scale Range 0.25% Full Scale Accuracy (Linearity, Hysteresis, Repeatability, etc.) DC to 10,000 Hertz Bandwidth 70 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit Compatible with filtered, potable water Transducers shall be installed according to manufacturer?s specifications (either flush with flow path or slightly recessed and covered) and bonded in-place with waterproof potting compound. Wiring shall be recessed in the provided grooves and sealed in-place with waterproof potting compound compatible with aluminum alloy. Transducer pockets and wire routing grooves may be roughened as-necessary by hand to insure proper adhesion. Through-holes shall be completely filled with waterproof potting compound. Excess leakage of potting compound into interior of inducer is acceptable. Surface contour where potting compound has been applied shall be restored. Individual transducer wire bundles (4 wires each: +/- excitation and +/- signal) shall be sheathed and/or sealed in shrink-wrap according to manufacturer?s specifications and color-coded according to drawing MED00531. These wire bundles (24) shall be individually attached to the interior of the inducer according to drawing MED00516 with epoxy or other compound compatible with wire and aluminum alloy (aluminum surface treated to resist corrosion according to MIL-C-5541, Class 1A). Transducer wires shall not lie on top of the already-installed strain gages located on the inducer interior. Routing these wires over the strain gage terminal strips is acceptable. Individual wire bundles (24) shall be labeled with a unique identifier, cross-referenced to transducer serial number and measurement label (Deliverable B). (3) Strain Gage Through-Hole Seal - Through-holes for strain gage wire routings (4) shall be filled and sealed with waterproof compound compatible with wire and aluminum alloy. Surface contour where compound has been applied shall be restored. (4) Electrical Verification A - Resistance checks on each Kulite transducer (24) and strain gage bridge (4) shall be performed and documented (Deliverable C). Table 1 is provided for reference. Any discrepancies shall be noted and reported. Repair and/or replacement options shall be presented should any fail verification. Table 1. Leak checks shall be performed by pressurizing the sealed interior of the inducer with air at 30 pounds per square inch (gauge). The exterior shall be visually inspected for leaks with leak detector or similar solution. Any leaks shall be noted and repaired until visual inspection indicates zero leakage. Final leak check shall then be performed and documented (Deliverable D) by pressurizing sealed inducer interior with air at 30 pounds per square inch (gauge), isolating interior from air supply, and monitoring the interior pressure. At an initial pressure of 30 pounds per square inch (gauge), interior pressure shall not drop more than 0.2 pounds per square inch in a span of 60 minutes. Any larger reduction in pressure in 60 minutes shall require additional inspection to identify and repair leaks. (6) Wire Bundling - Following successful completion of Part 5 the loose wire bundles (28) shall be re-bundled into 4 groupings according to drawing MED00516 and bound together with shrink-wrap, resulting in 4 final wire bundles. Maximum allowable diameter of these 4 bundles, when bound together, is 0.75 inches (to pass through a 0.875 inch diameter hole in shaft).
