Description
The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) is interested in receiving information from the industry by conducting market research with regards to commercial applications relevant to Lightweight Optical Systems. The Government does not intend to award a contract at the present time as a result of this Request for Information (RFI). The information received will help USSOCOM determine whether optical technology can be pursued from industry. The Government is seeking a Government or Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS/GOTS) lightweight reflective or catadioptric imaging or afocal optical solution that provides an increase in collecting aperture to greater than 140 mm, and decrease the F-number to 1.4 or less. The Government desires a solution that has the capability of being used with and without the AN/PVS-14. However, a low cost solution that utilizes an Omni IV + or Pinnacle image intensifier is acceptable. The Government would also like the solution to be useable as a telescope or spotting scope and as an objective for C-mount CCD video cameras. The Government can provide integration support such as threaded adapters or brackets to connect the optical system to the existing RSTA Monocular Night Vision Device, Sony PC-120 camcorder, Sony PC-330 camcorder or C-mount CCD cameras. The optical product must be small (less than 12 inches long), lightweight (less than 5 pounds), and reliable. Innovative and/or revolutionary technical solutions are welcome. Industry responses to this notice must contain the following information: (1) name and address, to include fax, email of firm and POC; (2) technical capabilities description; (3) a preliminary firm fixed price (FFP), estimate for the following items: Lightweight Lens Kit; Lens Quantity Option; Training Material; Component Repair Labor; Component Repair Materials; Transport Case; Case Quantity Option; Contract Data Requirements List. Questions from industry should be directed to the attention Marc A. Duval at duvalm@socom.mil or by phone at (813) 281-0560 ext 304. Responses are required by 19 December 2003.
