- Description
- The U.S. ARMY TACOM-ARDEC intends to award on a full and open competition basis a Multiple Award Task Order Type Contract for Prototype/Production Fabrication in Support of TACOM-ARDEC Ammunitiion and Weapon System Programs. In order that the government receives quality products in a timely manner, face-to-face contact between the government design engineer(s) and the contractor?s manufacturing/assembly technicians must be encouraged and maintained. This can be accomplished in a way which is mutually beneficial to the government and the contractor. To accomplish this objective, the contractor for this proposed contract must be located within a 35-mile radius of Picatinny Arsenal.The objective of the Statement of Work (SOW) is to provide a means by which the TACOM-ARDEC-Producibility for Production Readiness Competency Division, Prototype Hardware Fabrication Office can award a Task Order Contract to obtain manufacturing support ( machining, fabrication,assembly, special processes) to produce hardware in support of research and development for ammunition and weapon systems. Items/prototypes to be produced may be ?specialty in nature? such as mechanisms, experimental designs and unique weapon hardware. (NOTE: This is not a hazardous item/hazardous material contract.) The contractor will have full responsibility for the particular Task which may include machining, assembly and special processes (coatings/painting). If in- house capability is not available for particular operations the contractor will identify (sub-contractors) out-source operations to complete the requirement. The out-source operations will be at a minimum compared to in-house capabilities. The contractor will be the Government?s single point of contact for each Task Order. Typical manufacturing lot sizes may be from (but not limited to) 1 to 200 units. Bench test hardware and unique items may require single unit fabrication. The Contractor shall possess an in-house engineering and design capability for review/revision of drawings to enhance item producibility. The contractor shall have an in-house quality control/inspection capability to insure the item meets the dimensional and characteristic requirements. Background: The US Army TACOM-ARDEC, through ?life cycle? responsibility, encompasses a broad range of munition and weapon commodities used by the United States Armed Forces. In support of various developmental programs, a ?vehicle?, (Task Order Contract), is required to obtain machine shop services to augment the Prototype Hardware Fabrication Facility at ARDEC.
