Description
The Department of the Navy, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, San Diego, intends to award a Firm Fixed Price, Commercial Contract with option items to Hafmynd-GAVIA LTD., Fiskislod 73, 101 Reykjavik, Iceland, IS-101. The procurement will be a sole source acquisition pursuant to FAR Subpart 13.5. The contractor shall provide one commercial GAVIA Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) with modules, auxiliary equipment, and a 5-day operator-training course. Option items include an additional UUV with various modules, auxiliary equipment, and a 5-day operator-training course. This sole source acquisition has been approved by Office of the Secretary of Defense, Foreign Comparative Test Program. The US Navy is currently incorporating small UUVs into Navy Special Warfare, very shallow water (10 to 40ft seawater depth) Mine Countermeasure operations and Anti-terrorism Force Protection tactics. Two major tenets of this small UUV strategy are autonomous UUVs capable of being deployed by 2 persons from a small boat and easily removable ?plug and play? component modularity to facilitate current and future flexible sensor integration for ongoing Military missions. No other small UUVs investigated and assessed have the removable ?plug and play? modularity and flexible sensor integration that allows modules, rapid sensor reconfiguration and battery replacement to be replaced within minutes. The delivery schedule is anticipated to be approximately six months from contract award and the option items, if procured are anticipated to be delivered within one year of contract award. The North American Industry Classification Code is 334511 and the FSC code is 5895. The estimated Firm Fixed Price value is approximately $540,000.00. This notice of intent is not a Request for Quotation.
