Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division is hosting an Industry Day to be held onsite on January 28, 2004 from 8:00AM until 1:00PM. The purpose of the Industry Day is to provide Vendors the opportunity to gain information and observe first hand, current systems and technologies used by the US Navy and the Naval Surface Warfare Center. The desire is to use this event to build interest for future proposals from Vendors on new technologies and innovative systems to enhance the Navy’s distance support capabilities, including remote maintenance and systems monitoring, in a shipboard environment. This event will include presentations on Next Generation In-Service Engineering, the Surface Ship Combat Systems Product Area, the Readiness Concept Center, and SeaPort II. Following the presentations, an informational tour of the Ex - USS PAUL F. FOSTER, a remote control led Self-Defense Test Ship, will be conducted. The tour of the Self Defense Test Ship will provide Vendors with a prospective of the ship’s operations and maintenance as well as mission specifics. The ship’s primary mission is At-Sea Testing of Advanced Weapons Systems. Systems on the ship that are common to many other fleet units include Gas Turbine Propulsion, Navigation, Communications and Combat Systems. Both in port and at-sea testing is conducted allowing a true shipboard environment for data collection and evaluation. In addition, the ship serves as a floating laboratory available for use without the scheduling problems that can be associated with a commissioned ship. This is a guided tour in a small group setting and there will be Navy subject matter experts in the areas of Gas Turbine Propulsion, Navigation, Communications and Combat Systems available to answ er questions. Vendors who have an interest in these areas, are familiar with the Navy needs and have a vision of how their technology would be of use to the Navy are invited to participate in the industry day events. Attendance is limited to one representative per Vendor per location. There are no registration fees associated with this event and travel or other expenses are the responsibility of the Vendor. Vendors interested in participating should contact the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division Public Affairs Office at PAO@phdnswc.navy.mil, or phone (805) 228-6150, for a registration package. Advanced registration must be received by NSWC Port Hueneme by close of business 07 January 2004 for security clearance and access to the Naval Base Ventura County.
