Description
The Smithsonian Institution is seeking proposals to furnish all supervision, labor, materials and equipment needed to perform renovations to the National Museum of the American Indian?s George Gustav Heye Center Pavilion, as set forth on Drawings and Specifications dated February 21, 2003 for OFEO Project No. 0195601. The Scope of Work includes but is not limited to: general construction, including structural demolition and framing; selective demolition; HVAC system; sprinkler system; electrical systems; fire protection systems; security systems; audio/visual/theatrical systems; interior renovations; and glazed curtain wall systems. The George Gustav Heye Center of the National Museum of the American Indian opened to the public in October 1994 in the Alexander U.S. Custom House, a National Historic Landmark building on Bowling Green in New York, originally designed by architect Cass Gilbert in 1907. The existing ?Pavilion? space, located on the Ground Floor directly under the central Rotunda, is currently used primarily for storage. Proposed renovations are planned to provide multi-purpose educational, exhibition, and meeting space within the existing building. All firms interested in submitting a proposal in response to Solicitation No. F0436COL0007 need copies of the solicitation documents. The Solicitation documents (excluding the drawings and specifications) will be available upon written request, on or about the week of January 20, 2004, from the Smithsonian Institution, Office of Contracting, P.O. Box 37012, 750 9th Street, NW, Suite 6200, Washington, DC 20013-7012, Attn: Janet Benson Forville. Requests for solicitation documents should be written on company letterhead and have complete address, telephone and facsimile numbers, and name of company representative (written requests for solicitation documents may be delivered to the above address or by facsimile transmission to 202-275-0624). Copies of the drawings will be available for purchase, on or about the week of January 20, 2004, by interested parties at their own expense (this cost is non-refundable) from ABC Imaging, 99 Park Avenue South, New York, NY 10016, attn: Kahn. Call 212-490-3810 for pricing and ordering information, reference OFEO Project No. 0195601. A pre-proposal meeting will be scheduled at a later date. The date, time and location of the pre-proposal meeting and due date for submission of proposals will be included in the solicitation documents. The solicitation will be available for release to firms on or about the week of January 20, 2004. All firms responding to this solicitation will be required to submit a business and technical proposal for evaluation. Proposals will be evaluated using the following weighted factors, as described in the Solicitation: 1) Firm?s Experience and Past Performance (20 points); 2) Plan of Accomplishment and Contract Time (20 points); 3) Key Personnel and Subcontractors (10 points); 4) Historic Preservation: Masonry Removals and Restoration (10 points); and 5) Schedule of Values and Contract Price (40 points).
