- Description
- Description IDAHO NATIONAL ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL LABORATORY SEEKS INDUSTRIAL PARTNERS TO DEVELOP SMART ANTENNA SYSTEM. Announcement: Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL), operated by Bechtel BWXT Idaho, LLC (BBWI) under contract with the Department of Energy (DOE) is soliciting a written indication of interest from industrial partners who are interested in entering into a research and development agreement for the purpose of developing a Space Time Adaptive Processor (STAP) Smart Antenna system that can be integrated into a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The benefits of a Smart Antenna STAP WLAN system include: 1) a significant increase in range for the clients from feet to miles, 2) a major increase in available data rates to most clients, 3) optimization of coverage for each client while minimizing coverage in all other directions, thereby increasing the security at the RF level by decreasing the opportunity for others than the intended client to receive the signal. More details will be available to qualified companies under a nondisclosure agreement. Note: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. Companies interested in collaborating on INEEL?s Smart Antenna STAP WLAN system should provide a written statement of interest which includes the following: 1) company name and address; 2) the name, address, telephone number and e-mail address for a point of contact; 3) a brief description of corporate expertise and facilities relevant to developing this technology; and 4) a brief description of how the company might commercialize this technology. The statement of interest should be made by US mail or e-mail and should be received within 30 days of publication of this opportunity at the following address: Richard A. Rankin, Manager, Licensing & Technology Development, BBWI, P.O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3805. E-mail is rra@inel.gov.
