Description
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) is seeking sources for conducting a comprehensive architecture review of the MSHA wide area and local area network infrastructure. The existing infrastructure consists of a Windows 2000 LAN with 5 primary sites supporting 80 field offices across the country. In addition to traditional WAN and LAN support, MSHA?s infrastructure supports a mobile workforce requiring readily available remote access to MSHA systems over public access telecommunications systems. Recently, MSHA developed a Target Enterprise Architecture, outlining a set of proposed IT modernization activities over the next 5 years. The purpose of this information request is to identify sources interested in assisting MSHA in documenting the baseline network infrastructure and providing recommendations on network improvements needed to support the Target Enterprise Architecture over the next 5 - 7 years. Most activities would be conducted in the MSHA office located in Denver, CO with travel to other sites as needed. The primary activities that would be covered in a potential future contract include: conducting an architecture analysis of the entire MSHA network infrastructure, including full documentation of the existing baseline and results of the analysis; conducting a full-scale security review of the existing baseline; providing a set of practical recommendations for infrastructure upgrades, based on the analysis and corresponding to the Target Enterprise Architecture; and providing an alternatives analysis and recommendations for any technology upgrades or replacements. Specialized technical skills that are required include project management, network architects, network engineers, and technical documentation staff. Interested parties must address the following areas in their responses: 1. Experience conducting a full-scale, documented analysis, on a geographically dispersed Windows 2000 network. 2. Experience in network architecture design and remote access solutions. 3. Ability to provide the necessary expertise; strategy for staffing the effort; and proposed rates for specialized skills. 4. Proposed strategy for establishing a baseline and developing a set of recommendations. Companies that meet the above criteria are requested to contact Robert N Beaty, Contracting Officer at beaty.robert@dol.gov or by fax at 202-693-9826 by COB January 23, 2004. Please indicate the company name, contact information, also, , please include an electronic copy of your General Services Administration Federal Supply Service, Schedule 70 contract with your response. This is a sources sought notice, not a solicitation and no contract, or order may result from this notice. MSHA is not responsible for any costs incurred in responding to this notice.
