- Description
- The US Geological Survey has provided the following answers to questions asked at the site visit on January 13, 2004 as follows: 1. Is the successful bidder required to seal up the frames around the windows. Answer - Yes the contractor is to properly caulk and seal around all existing window and door frames using a color compatible material with at least a 50 year life expectancy. 2. Does the successful bidder need to include a handicap door opener for the back lobby entrance door? Answer - Yes. Contractor is to add a handicap door opener to both the exterior and interior back lobby doors, as well as a HID access pad adjacent to the new handicap door opener. 3. Should the contractor figure on replacing the exterior lobby (front and rear) doors and mechanisms? Answer - Yes. The door closure mechanisms are 30 years old and failing. 4. Can the contractor spec coated or shatter resistant glass? Answer - Yes, but as a separate line item. It is not to be included in the main bid, unless it is a no cost upgrade. As long as the contractor addresses all the needs in the scope of work, any special upgrades can be offered, but only as a completely separate line item. 5. Does the contractor need to replace the frames for all of the store fronts when replacing the glass. Answer - No. If the contractor can use the existing frame to accommodate the new glass, fine. If replacement is required, please include that notation in your bid. All new metal work will need to match the existing framework color and contours. 6. Will a laydown or storage area and a place for a porta pottie and dumpster be provided during the project. Answer - Yes. We will designate an area for laydown of materials and a place for a porta pottie and dumpster, which the contractor shall provide. ANY broken glass outside of a refuge container MUST BE cleaned up immediately. 7. Can we have a second walk through? Answer - Yes. You may contact Scott DeCLemente at 301-497-5616. There will be no further walk throughs after January 26th.
