- Description
- The contractor will be required to provide radiopharmaceuticals, nonradioactive drugs and radiopharmacist services to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Durham VA Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina. These radiopharmaceuticals will be provided on a daily basis including after-hours, weekends and holidays. Services will include but are not limited to: 1. The contractor will provide routine weekday (Monday through Friday) deliveries of Technetium-99m sodium pertechnetate, Technetium-99m medronate, and Technetium-99m tetrofosmin (or Technetium-99m sestamibi) delivered to the Nuclear Medicine Section of Radiology Service no later than 8:00AM EST (or EDT). This would exclude national federal holidays. 2. The contractor will provide all radiopharmaceuticals in multidose vials or single dose containers. The cost of each radiopharmaceutical will be calculated on a per vial or a per millicurie amount where indicated. 3. The contractor will provide a quarterly Technetium-99m sodium pertechnetate dose calibrator linearity source of approximately 350 millicuries in 10cc?s of saline and in a 10cc vial. This is a single source each quarter and will be provided on the day requested by the Durham VA Medical Center Nuclear Medicine Section of Radiology Service. 4. Contractor will provide 24-hour on-call services and will be required to provide needed services and radiopharmaceuticals on a one (1) hour turn around time basis. 5. If requested, the Contractor will provide, as needed, additional radiopharmaceuticals within a one (1) hour time frame during normal duty hours (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM). 6. Contractor will provide leucocyte and platelet labeling with radioactive material, and will return the labeled cells to the Durham VA Medical Center within one (1) hour of the finish of the labeling process. The entire process must be performed in one (1) day. 7. Contractor will meet all requirements of regulatory agencies for shipment of radioactive drugs between facilities and will strictly adhered to these requirements. Shipments not properly handled according to regulations will not be accepted at the Durham VA Medical Center. 8. Contractor will provide yearly classes to the Nuclear Medicine technologists at the Durham VA Medical Center on subjects related to radiopharmaceuticals and other topics closely related to radiopharmaceuticals. 9. Contractor will be responsible for all costs for any radiopharmaceuticals and nonradioactive items contracted for if the Durham VA Medical Center must find an alternate supplier for contracted items. 10. A radio pharmacist is needed to: 11. Set up the quality assurance program on radiopharmaceutical preparations required by FDA, NRC, CAP and the JCAHO. 12. Prepare labeled blood products for reinjection into patients. 13. Act as a reference source concerning questions on regulation of radiopharmaceuticals. 14. Provide reference services for research drugs and radionuclides under research protocols. 15. Teach classes to technologists on new changes in radiopharmaceutical products and availability.
