Description
The U. S. Postal Service is soliciting proposals from prequalified contractors for replacement of the 485,595 SF roof at the General Mail Facility (GMF) in Phoenix AZ. The existing roof, consists of multiple levels and penthouses. There are three roofing types with the first being the majority of the roof that consists of a built-up multi-ply system over rigid insulation on either a wood plywood deck or metal deck. The second is a zip-rib type metal roof that has been installed either over metal purlins or a plywood deck. The third is a single ply membrane roof that has been applied directly over a plywood deck. The existing built-up and single ply roof shall be roofed over utilizing a recover type board and single ply membrane roofing system. The metal roof shall have its voids between the vertical ribs filled with rigid insulation, an overlay type board applied over the top and a single ply membrane roofing system applied over the board. The entire re-roofing effort shall be accomplished in phases, and in such a manner so as not to disrupt the ongoing operations of the Postal Service. There are numerous skylights and smoke evacuation relief hatches. All of the skylights are to be removed and the openings closed up to match the existing construction. The smoke evacuation relief hatches are to be removed and replaced with new smoke evacuation relief hatches with the original openings being modified to accept the new hatches. A number of the existing skylight openings are to be converted to accept new smoke evacuation relief hatches. The work is to be completed in 280 days after notice to proceed. Estimated range is $3,000,000-$4,000,000. This is an owned facility. The proposal must contain the offeror's overhead, profit, bonds, insurance, and all other contingencies. No allowance for such items will be made after contract award. The minority subcontracting goal for this contract will be 11%. Offers will not be publicly opened. All proposal information will remain confidential until award.
