Description

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. MSC requirements request services to perform the following work required as a result of the USCG COI inspection (SEE STATEMENT OF WORK). This is an unrestricted requirement. Only written (fax or email) proposals will be accepted. Firmed Fixed Price Offers are due no later than 11:00 AM, 11 February 2004. Perform the following work required as a result of USCG COI Inspection concerning compromised, electrical cable bulkhead/ deck run penetrations throughout all compartments and their fire rated bulkheads in the first two (2) forward most transverse fire/flooding zones, #1 & #2. Note: Vessel has a total of six (6) transverse fire/ flooding zones. Compartments in zones # 3, #4, #5 and #6 will be addressed by modification to this contract pending USCG and Port Engineer?s satisfaction with work on initial zones #1 and #2. 2. Working with vessel?s Chief Engineer, Chief Mate and USN CPO Majsteski to gain access to locked, normally private or out of bounds compartments, remove interferences as required to visually inspect, and repair as required all cable penetration seals in the vertical, longitudinal and athwart ship directions through all fire rated bulkheads in all Compartments. USCG Inspector CWO Pesek is available to answer repair product acceptability and associated matters of safety. 3. All work and final inspection to be done to USCG satisfaction. All interferences are to be, kept clean and carefully replaced. Majority of work in and throughout a Hospital environment / setting. Vessel Availability: Presently available, however, Contractor must always keep in mind that USNS Mercy is a Hospital Ship and with exception of periodic 2-3 week Voyage repair periods, must be able to sail away to action within five (5) days when so ordered by Navy.
