Description

DESC: Market Research - This synopsis represents market Research and the Government's attempt to expand the vendor base of an item currently restricted to a limited number of sources. The following information is provided to industry: The Hydraulic Pump, NSN 4320-01-455-7253, PN 12965300, SIC 3561, is a source controlled vendor item and a substitute item shall not be used without prior approval. Consequently, a qualification requireme nt is necessary for potential offerors to become qualified and to be demonstrated before contract in order for adequate data to be available to assure that the part, if procured from that potential source, will perform the same function in the howitzer as the one to be replaced and that the source is capable of producing the part. It is estimated that the combined fabrication and testing duration for pump qualification in this case would require about 9 months at a minimum, with an estimated cost of $75K. In addition to meeting all the requirements specified on hydraulic power pack assembly drawing 12965300, the following must be performed: Proof pressure test; operational test; immersion, basic shock, vibration, endurance, voltage operating range, temper ature - high and low. Interested contractors can contact TACOM-RI for a more specific description of qualification testing requirements. This item is only produced by vendors qualified by the Government. This synopsis does not constitute a commitment b y the Government to place a contract with anyone who submits an item for qualification testing, nor does it constitute a commitment by the Government to place a contract with anyone who qualifies their item. Passing the qualification procedures only guara ntees that your company name will be added to the list of qualified producers on the drawings. Any requirements for the hydraulic pump will be competed among the qualified vendors listed on the drawings. This synopsis does not constitute authorization t o begin work or incur costs against this announcement. In accordance with FAR Clause 52.215-3, the Government does not intend to award a contrat on the basis of this announcement.
