Description
The US Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) Acquisition Center-Washington, on behalf of the CERDEC Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD), Science and Technology Division, Countermine Team, proposes to award a sole source contract to Nomadics, Inc. for follow-on effort to continue the refinement, fabrication, demonstration, testing, and maintanence of an Amplified Fluorescence Quenching Polymer-based (AFP) explosives detection sensor, named FIDO. The current FIDO system de signed by Nomadics is a low volume sensor that, for its intended application, requires non-automated sample introduction. This effort seeks to improve the existing system by automating sample collection, integrating the senor on robot platforms, and impro ving general sensor performance. This integration effort can significantly improve the performance of the FIDO sensor. The contract will be negotiated as a follow-on effort and shall be awarded under the authority of other than full and open competition, FAR 6.302-1, on a cost plus fixed fee basis. The duration of this effort is 36 months. Any further request for information shall be via e-mail to the following e-mail address: wanda.fair@cacw.army.mil. See Note 22.
