- This is a notice of intent of the VA Maryland Health Care System to negotiate sole source with Maryland Autopsy Assistant Service, 2805 Montebello Terrace, Baltimore, MD to provide autopsy services and other related duties in accordance with all contract terms and conditions. Contract base year period shall be from the date of award to September 30, 2004. One option year is available. The contractor must: 1) Be available seven days per week from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Eastern Standard Time. The VAMHCS will notify the Contractor when an autopsy must be performed. 2) Assist the pathologist and resident in performing an autopsy. 3) Clean all instruments, tables, sinks, and any other equipment used, in accordance with the standard operating procedures for autopsies, and strictly follow the safety procedures as outlined by written policies. 4) Maintain a clean and safe environment at all times. 5) Provide personnel to assist the anatomic pathology section that requires an estimate of three days per week, four to six hours per day. 6) Assist in putting away supplies, locate tissue and reports, and when necessary, assemble slides for teaching purposes for the pathologist. 7) Report to the histopathology supervisor upon arrival, for sign-in purposes and assignments. This procurement is being conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 ?Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.? NAICS code is 621111. Size standard is $8.5 million. Solicitation packages are not available and telephone requests will not be honored. This notice is for information only and may represent the only official notice of such solicitation. However, the Government will consider all proposals received within ten (10) days after publication of this synopsis. All responses must be submitted in writing to the Contracting Officer (90C), VA Maryland Health Care System, 10 N. Greene Street, Baltimore, MD 21201, so as to arrive no later than March 26, 2004, 4:00pm. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
