Description

The contractor s plant will primarily be used in connection with the construction of a saltwater barrier sill located between miles 65.0 and 63.0 above Head of Passes (AHP) on the Mississippi River in water deeper than minus 45 feet NGVD. The work wi ll consist of satisfactorily placing hydraulically dredged material, which shall be taken from a borrow area located on the river bottom. The contract drawings show the anticipated location and configuration of the sill and borrow area. Further details o f the location and size of the sill and borrow area required will be given in the dredging assignments. A spill barge with submerged vertical pipe shall be used to discharge material below the water surface. The spill barge shall be of sufficient size to accommodate a length of vertical discharge pipe able to deliver material to elevations varying from minus 45 to minus 60 feet NGVD. Maximum height of the sill will be the point at which the settled dredged material at the disposal area reaches a maximum height of minus 45 feet NGVD. Approximate dimensions of the sill will be 1,500 feet wide by 1,700 feet long. This is an UNRESTRICTED procurement. You may register to receive the CD at: www.mvn.usace.army.mil.
