Description
The U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA intends to acquire services for installation of Polyurea coating of the concrete seawater tanks for Hollings Marine Laboratory located in Charleston, SC. The Hollings Marine Laboratory has four seawater tanks located towards the Bay on the Fort Johnson Site. The tanks are concrete, 33 feet long x 25 feet wide x 12 feet wide x 25 feet long. The total interior surface area of each tank is approximately 2400 square feet. The total for four tanks is approximately 9600 square feet. The contractor is responsible for confirming the area of the surface to be coated prior to bidding. The interior surface of each tank shall be prepared, primed and coated with an approved Polyurea coating system (Sherwin-Williams Envirolastic AR425, Gray, or equal) in accordance with specifications which will provided with the Request for Quotation (RFQ). A reasonable amount of fresh water and 110 volt electrical power will be available for use by the contractor. After the coating is complete, the contractor shall provide test results documenting the thickness of the coating. The coating performance and application shall be warranted for three years. Prior to submission of a quotation, the contractor is urged and expected to conduct a site visit to see the seawater tanks. This acquisition will be processed under the guidelines of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) part 13, Simplified Acquisition procedures. Any small business interested in receiving a copy of the Request for Quotation (RFQ) is urged to submit a request in writing to the attention of Jackie Shewmaker, Contract Specialist. Facsimile requests will be accepted at (816) 426-5067 no later than March 29, 2004. The NAICS code is 235990. This acquisition is 100% set-aside for small business. The Central Administrative Support Center, Acquisition Management Division, requires that all contractors doing business with this Acquisition Office be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR).
