Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Child Health & Development (NICHD), Bethesda, Maryland has a requirement for a crystallization robot system. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 339111, and the business size is 500 employees. The contractor shall provide a robot for setting up crystallization trials in 96 well block format. The required instrument shall be in accordance with the following: (1) shall be capable of setting up hanging drop and sitting drop trials, as well as micro batch trials under oil; (2) shall be able to accommodate SBS format 96, 384 and 1536 well dishes manufactured by Corning and Grenier; (3) shall use positive displacement to accurately and reproducibly dispense crystallization reagents including viscous PEG solutions, and alcohols of valumes between 50nl and 1.2ul with CVs of better that 8%; (4) shall use a fresh pipette for each well to avoid cross contamination; (5) shall be able to set up a 384 well plate copy in less than 3 minutes to reduce sample concentration by evaporation; (6) pipette tip reach shall be 13mm to reach into crystallization tray reservoirs; (7) shall be able to service up 250, 96 well plates using a single pipette load; (8) due to limited laboratory space the dimensions cannot exceed 400mm (15") by 650mm (25.5") by 500mm (19"); (9) software to control the instrument shall have a point and click interface running under Microsoft Windows and come with pre-loaded microplate library to make protocol development easy and quick; (10) shall include CMOS level handshaking lines for interfacing to plate handlers; (11) shall include two trays and a central protein position; (12) shall include a control PC (desktop or laptop); (13) shall include a plate-seal holder (for hanging drop preps); (14) shall include sample packs of hanging drop seal and protein strips; and (15) shall include one reel tape as starter pack (26,000 tips at 9mm pitch). Concerns that respond to this synopsis shall furnish concise responses directed specifically to the requirements mentioned above and are invited to submit capability statements in an ORIGINAL PLUS TWO (2) no later than fifteen (15) business days from the date of this announcement. Written responses shall include complete description of the equipment to be provided, containing sufficient technical information to permit agency analysis to establish a bona fide capability to meet the stated requirements as listed above.
