Description
The Louis Stokes Cleveland Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Cleveland, Ohio intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Motorola, Inc. to provide installation of, and ancillary components for, a narrowband radio communications system. Motorola, Inc. is the only source that can supply a narrowband radio system that is approved for Government use, meets the NTIA standards, and is Project 25 compliant. The greater part of the equipment intended for use in the radio system is to be purchased via Federal Supply Schedule in accordance with Federal Acquisitions Regulations (FAR) subpart 8.4 under GSA contract GS-35F-0004L. In order to eliminate the possibility of system problems due to multiple vendors; it is necessary to use a single vendor to provide the ?open market items? for a complete narrowband radio system to include installation, antennas, and backup power supplies. NAICS 334220 applies to this procurement. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals nor a solicitation for offers. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be honored. This purchase will be made under simplified acquisition procedures and will utilize Other Than Full and Open Competition as authorized by FAR 6.302-1. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If a company believes it can meet the requirements, it must furnish information about its products and services to the Contracting Officer by 23 April 2004 at 4:30 p.m., Eastern Standard Time. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above narrowband radio requirement. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The closing date for this synopsis is 23 April 2004 at 4:30 p.m., Eastern Standard Time. Information regarding this purchase, please contact Paul A. Dow at (440) 526-3030 Extension 7446 or paul.dow@med.va.gov.
