Description
NAICS Code: 541620 The U.S. Environment Protection Agency (U.S.EPA), Water Management Division (WMD) intends to award a sole source, firm fixed priced, purchase order using Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures to the Georgia Institute of Technology, School of Biology, Atlanta, Georgia 30332-0230. The purpose of this acquisition is to perform field characterization of stress gene expression patterns in Hermatypic corals exposed to dredged material disposal at a South Florida Ocean Dredge Material Disposal Site. The Contractor shall select three study sites on coral reefs directly inshore of either (to be determined by EPA) the Palm Beach, Port Everglades or Miami ODMDS and two reference locations beyond the influence of dredging or disposal activities. The Contractor shall perform four (4) to six (6) field collections of living corals from treatment and reference locations and conduct laboratory analysis of coral tissues using a 32-Gene cDNA microarray for evidence of stress due to exposure to dredged sediments and low-light conditions caused by excessive turbidity. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 541620. NO SOLICITATION OR REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE. Notwithstanding, any firm who believes it is capable of meeting EPA's requirement as stated herein may submit a response, which if received within 15 calendar days of the date of this announcement, will be considered.
