Description

The Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests plan to award a contract for Equipment Rental With Operator for constructing re-routed sections of the Long Cane Horse Trail. The project will be located in Abbeville County, South Carolina, Long Cane Ranger District of the Sumter National Forest. The contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals in performance of the work required for the realignment of the Long Cane Horse Trail in accordance with the terms, specifications and provisions of the contract. The equipment rental requires a qualified operator. This trail is utilized by hikers, bicyclists, and horses. The estimated amount of re-route is 10 miles and will actually be new trail construction. Hand crews consisting of at least three (3) people may be needed to construct trails in environmentally sensitive areas. Trail design will allow for brush removal for a ceiling corridor to facilitate the height of people riding on horseback.
