- Description
- The Chugach National Forest requires the expansion and reconstruction of the Childs Glacier Recreation Area on the Cordova Ranger District. Specific work includes reconditioning and resurfacing of existing roads, construction of new roads and camping spurs, furnishing and installation of site improvements including picnic shelter, picnic tables, fire rings, bear-proof garbage containers, bear-proof food lockers, road gates, kiosk and fee station, traffic control signs, water well, and government-furnished vault toilets. Work also includes demolition, removal, and disposal of existing gates, signs, vault toilets, campsite spur post markers and miscellaneous items. Work activities include clearing and grubbing, site demolition and rehabilitation, excavation and embankment, crushed aggregate surfacing, concrete work, carpentry, metal fabrication, and painting and staining. Childs Glacier Recreation Area is located at mile post 48 of the Copper River Highway approximately 45 miles northeast of Cordova. Access to the project site is by unpaved road. Work is estimated to start 15 July 2004 with completion within 365 days. Estimated price range is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Award of this project to be accomplished under Full and Open Competition, pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The solicitation will be available thru FedBizOpps on approximately 20 May 2004 for viewing and printing.
