- Description
- The Naval Sea Systems Command has a requirement to procure additional engineering services to define, design, develop, program, document, integrate and deliver Aegis Combat System (ACS) baseline upgrades, improvements, and critical experiments. The current ceiling was expected to provide a period of performance from April 1998 through September 2007; however, due to scope and budget increases for major programs such as Aegis Baseline 7 Phase I, Aegis/Missile Defense Agency joint initiatives and Aegis CG/DDG Open Architecture, the original ceiling contracted for is expected to be breeched two years earlier than expected. NAVSEA contract N00024-98-C-5197 was awarded to Lockheed Martin, Maritime Systems & Sensors (LM/MS2) (formerly Lockheed Martin, Government Electronic Systems), Moorestown, NJ in April 1998. LM/MS2, as the prime contractor for ACS and Aegis Weapon System (AWS) d evelopment since the program?s inception, is the only source with the required expertise to fulfill the Navy?s requirements without creating unnecessary delays in meeting Aegis Program Baseline Development schedules.
