- The National Park Service (NPS) requests proposals from parties interested in leasing a the first floor of the historic Hern-Clipper Building, located in Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, Skagway, Alaska . The Hern-Clipper Building is located between 2nd and 3rd Avenues on Broadway in the Skagway Historic District. The Hern-Clipper Building is part of the Mascot Saloon complex. The building is a two-story, wood frame historic commercial structure that has 21 feet of store front. The portion of the building available for lease is approximately 705 square feet on the first floor. The remaining portion of the first floor, a mechanical room comprised of approximately 90 square feet, is excluded. The building may be leased for a period of 5-15 years. Food service and public overnight accommodation uses are not compatible with the design of, and preservation goals for, this building. Arcades, alcoholic beverage service, tobacco products sold from vending machines, and entertainment inappropriate for a family audience are also deemed unacceptable. Proposals for such uses will not be considered. The minimum annual rent is $36,000/year, payable monthly. Proposals must be received at Office of the Superintendent, Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, Second & Broadway, PO Box 517, Skagway, AK 99840 not later than 5:00 pm local time on July 19, 2004.
