Description
The U.S. Department of Commerce/NOAA/National Centers for Environmental Prediction intends to negotiate on a noncompetitive basis with the American Meteorological Society of Boston, Massachusetts to provide organization and management services supporting the Symposium on the 50th Anniversary of Operational Numerical Weather Prediction taking place June 14-17, 2004 in College Park, MD. This co-sponsorship with the Air Force Weather Agency and the US Navy?s Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center will commemorate 50 years of operational numerical weather prediction initiated by the formation of the Joint Numerical Weather Prediction Unit (JNWPU). The contractor will negotiate for conference facilities in the Washington D.C. area to provide a location for the symposium and also negotiate for the proper support and logistics for holding the symposium. The contractor must be able to identify and contact meteorologists active in the field up to 50 years ago as well as those currently active. Approximately 300 persons are expected to attend the symposium. The contractor will provide on-line and on-site registration using an in-house registration system, process credit card payments and compose invoices, monitor the flow of sponsorship monies and provide updated sponsorship information to the program chairs. It will also compile and provide up to date meeting information including available registration funds, types and quantity of registrations sold, tickets sold and number of attendees. The contractor must have meteorological knowledge and contacts and meeting planning expertise necessary to run a high-quality professional meteorological conference which will attract and satisfy the scientific pioneers of meteorology whose attendance at this conference will assure its success. Vendors who believe they can satisfy the Government?s requirements are invited to submit an affirmative response. To be considered an affirmative response, vendors must submit written data and documentation which demonstrates an ability to provide services as outlined above. This is a notice of intent and cannot be considered a solicitation; therefore, no solicitation package exists. Award will be made using simplified acquisition procedures in accordance with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. (Reference No.2-00013) See Note 22.
