Description
Scope of this project: Provision of 602 tracking system vehicle kits, 5 non-mobile kits for command posts, 17 display screens for operational command centers, initial spare parts, transportation and software. This system should be based on the use of the Global Positioning System to determine the position of a unit. This position is then transmitted to a commercial satellite and relayed to a Ground Center. In order to reduce the bandwidth requirements, only that part of the complete picture which is relevant to the individual unit is sent out and displayed on the computer which is part of each unit's tracking system kit. The complete picture is sent to a central location. This tracking system should also provide a message exchange service that has the same functionality as a common e-mail system. Messages are passed via the commercial satellite system to the ground center, which in turn acts like a message exchange service. Estimated cost is 3.1 Million Euro. Due to the urgency a limited competition will be conducted among firms nominated by each NATO nation. Firms wishing to compete in this procurement must be nominated to the U.S. Mission to NATO by the U.S. Department of Commerce and no later than Close of Business, Monday 14 June 2004. Etta R. Munford (BIS/OSIES/DPD)is the point of contact for interested U.S. firms regarding certification/eligibility procedures and/or questions.
