Description
***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Spectra Physics Oriel for the purchase of two (2) Arc Lamp Sources, Model #66924 and related components to incorporate the equipment into NIST?s existing Ultra Violet Light Source System.***NIST will be using this high intensity UV light source for accelerated weathering of various materials. With this system, NIST is able to simulate, in the laboratory, the UV radiation from the sun, not only in a controlled environment, but at a much greater level of intensity. NIST will be measuring the degree of degradation that our test specimens exhibit as a result of being exposed to the UV radiation at an accelerated rate.***The current light gathering instrument to include light transfer tubes, shutter assemblies, mating couplings and other hardware are designed to work with the Spectra Physics Oriel light source already in use in the laboratory. The requested Arc Lamp Sources and related components are identical to the existing equipment. In order to uniformly double the light intensity and maintain 100% compatibility and interchangeability with the existing Ultra Violet Light Source System. Spectra Physics Oriel is the only supplier of this equipment ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 120 days after receipt of order.***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 333314, and the size standard is 500 employees.***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by August 16, 2004.***A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.***Any questions/concerning regarding this notice should be forwarded in writing via e-mail to the Purchasing Agent, Joni L. Laster @ joni.laster@nist.gov
